South Garo Hills is extremely well known for its biodiversity and deep cultural heritage. One of its most popular destinations is 'Dombe Wari' (The Dombe Lake). This serene lake is connected to a magical tale of the lady Dombe, who escaped from the snares of a tyrannical Merman. The lake was formed when the Merman finally found her and, in his rage, engulfed her hideout in a gigantic wave.
