ART EXHIBITION The ART of folklore by 11 renowned artists from Meghalaya Curated by Dakti & NE Arts Initiative
The artists of the community have always had a perceptive sensibility to the oral folklore. They draw from their memory and experiences of being a recipient of the oral tradition and visualize them using their own interpretation. The artists also explore the many locations within Meghalaya from where these tales originate.

Demonstration on traditional instruments and tunes by Benedict Skhemlang Hynniewta - A visual artists and musician, Risingbor Kurkalang - Musician and a Master Craftsman along with musical performances by Ridahunlang Gatphoh – Designer, singer, songwriter, founder Dakti, Peter Marbaniang – Designer, musician, Co- founder Dakti, Katrikeya Vashist – Musician and Makrand Sanon-Musician , performing Artist.

Musical Memoirs

A visual insight into the festivals, rituals, musicians, and tribal musical instruments, a reminder of the rich legacy, history, and culture of the Khasis, Jaintias, and Garos sensitizing people about the need to safeguard the craft of making and the skill of playing traditional musical instruments.

 

Food Tasting

The Khasis also have a rich culinary heritage, and so a tasting menu of traditional flavors has been set for the guests. Giving a genuine platform for local artists to showcase their most authentic creations, Meghalayan Age: The Store seems to demonstrate the local artists’ outstanding art and craftsmanship.
